TMJ & Jaw dysfunction treatment with Physiotherapy and CranioSacral therapy

CranioSacral Therapy hands-on technique focuses on your head, TMJ, spine, and sacrum. Using use a combination of hands-on techniques, the therapist increases the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) and releases tension in the connective tissue. In return, this can release the tight muscles of the jaw, mobilize the TMJ joint and add length to the jaw muscles. CST can also reduce stress, which may contribute to TMJ difficulties.

This gentle technique is ideal for mitigating tensions and stress and anxiety and is considered a great treatment for headaches & migraines as it allows therapists to access the hard-to-access muscles surrounding the jaw and TMJ. CranioSacral therapy can re-align the misalignments of the skull bones including the Temporal bone and Mandible that form the TMJ joint and offers a safe and effective way for a therapist to manually move the joint in order to improve flexibility and range of motion.
